County Boy Brings Santa to Loch Sloy

Tri-Canadian Energy and Tri-Canadian Communications has partnered with Loch Sloy Business Park to bring Christmas to Prince Edward County.

On December 12, 2020 from 6 pm to 10 pm, for one night only Loch Sloy will transform into the Festive Path for the Loch Sloy Santa Extravaganza. The Festive Path is a wonderland of lights, decorations and music. Cars loaded with families can drive through and take in the festive attraction at no cost. Instead, those who are able to are encouraged to donate in support of 2 local charities, The ROC in Picton and Alternatives for Women

At the end of the Festive Path, cars can decide which direction they take for the finale. There will be a Santa Tent where children will be able to meet with Santa via a “Zoom” call, or attendees can choose to drive-in to a LIVE performance by Instant Rivalry who will be performing on a solar-powered stage.

The motivation behind the Loch Sloy Santa Extravaganza is to ensure there is some joy and cheer within our community after a long, difficult year. The owner of TCE & TCC, Steve Van Dusen, acknowledged that some families are struggling to put food on the table let alone purchase Christmas presents due to not being able to work. In light of most community festivals and events needing to be cancelled due to COVID he insisted this event be free for all who want to attend. He does not want any child, young or old, to be left behind this holiday season.

There are already many generous businesses who have stepped up to help sponsor this event, Home Hardware, Metro, Sobey’s, and Otter Energy to name a few. Their contributions will help light up Loch Sloy but will also fund Van Dusen’s ultimate goal of giving away thousands of dollars in gift cards and other giveaways.

Jennifer Litke, chair of the committee responsible for planning and organizing this massive event in only four short weeks, has put together a talented team of volunteers to help make this happen. She has recruited the expertise and talent from The Department of Illumination and Shatterbox Theatre to create a truly magical event. There will be a few wonderful surprises in store for everyone who attends.

Litke and Van Dusen are still seeking local organizations and businesses to submit a “stationary float” to help fill the Festive Path. They can be contacted by email jenlitke@tricanadianenergy.com or by phone at the office between 8am and 4pm Monday to Friday 613-476-6920.  This massive event will require community participation to make it successful.

Full event details will be made available on their Facebook page and on Instagram.
